I found a cheap little genga set while in Tokyo. I could only see the shot of the mirror (seen in my icon) but when I asked to see the contents of the set, I was happy to find the whole scene
intact. All that's missing is the BG and magic circle :)
I put the whole thing together in After Effects. It got pretty busy with all of the notes, so I used mattes to clean it up (hence why you can see some colored lines on the characters - they used
to point to notes). I also decided to leave out some outlines indicating lighting etc., as well as a flowing fabric indicator made for the mirror card for simplicity/readability's sake. Some
shots were also looped, mainly the ripple effect. It was really fun to put this together. Since it's a genga set, only the key poses are included. An inbetweener would later fill in the gaps that
the senior animator left. I wonder which senior animator made this :3
The detail on this set amazed me. The characters are rather small, but all of the minute detail is there. I especially loved the mirror - her hair and wings are gorgeous.
